young knight chosen for his ability to accompany Richard I on his Holy Crusade. Born and
raised by his mother in Pembroke Castle. At the tender age of 12 he was taken to
Dover Castle, after which he became Squire to Sir Roger and eventually received his
knighthood from the then King of England, Henry II. Father unknown but supported by a
sponsor.
