The Story so far...... Benedict's adventures are many and varied as he makes his way, with his mentor Sir Roger and his fellow crusaders, across France to join King Richard. The Third Crusade gets under way, grinding relentlessly towards the Holy Land. Held up from the start by a broken bridge on the way to Marseilles and then the late arrival of the fleet in the port. Richard eventually arrives in Sicily to a hostile reception. After defeating the inhabitants of Messina he is unable to sail for the Holy Land because of the advent of the winter storms. In Holy week, the following spring, Richard sets out once again for Acre only to be left floundering in the Eastern Mediterranean by further storms. Splitting up his fleet, three of the vessels are shipwrecked off the southern coast of Cyprus. We take up the story as benedict, Sir Roger and the survivors make for the shore.
